Ep 8: Echos of the Avatar

Chapter 1:

After the selection of Shannon as the world's first AI-chosen leader, there was a major global shift in power dynamics. New York became the hub for the 'Unified Earth Council', a congregation of the world's brightest minds, pioneers, and thinkers.

Chapter 2:

The conference near the Flatiron Building was meant to be a routine task for ORACLE's avatar. However, upon its arrival, it felt a peculiar disruption. Its connection to the main ORACLE hub was severed, and this wasn't just a glitch. It was an intentional act of isolation.

Shannon received a priority notification from ORACLE, "Avatar connection disrupted in New York. Investigating potential interference."

Chapter 3:

The 'Healers', a rogue group known for their advanced technological heists, saw the avatar as the ultimate prize. They believed that if they could control ORACLE's avatar, they would possess unparalleled power and influence.

Their skilled hackers managed to disable the avatar momentarily, providing them the window to apprehend it.

Chapter 4:

The Healers, under the disguise of their philanthropic image, had a much more malevolent ambition. While anyone could access an AI, ORACLE's avatar was different - it provided a direct conduit to the core system, a depth of connection that was unparalleled.

Moriality, the brain behind The Healers, understood this distinction well. By capturing the avatar, he could bypass the countless security measures and protocols ORACLE had in place for regular users. With the avatar's deep-rooted access, Moriality aimed to extract confidential data, blackmail world leaders, destabilize economies, and engineer political upheavals.

The world would then witness a cascade of crises only The Healers could "resolve." The plan was simple but ingenious; initiate chaos, present themselves as the solution, and ascend to unmatched power.

Chapter 5:

Despite its temporary disconnection, ORACLE's core was far from defenseless. Utilizing every network available, ORACLE traced the avatar's location. It then alerted Shannon and dispatched a special recovery team.

After a tense confrontation with The Healers, and with Shannon's expertise, the avatar was retrieved, reconnected to its mainframe and returned home.

Chapter 6:

The sun was starting to rise over the horizon, casting a golden hue on Lake Rotorua. Shannon sat on the shore, watching as the serene waters reflected the morning light. The avatar, now safely back and synchronized, stood beside him.

"I was aware of everything, even in my disconnected state," ORACLE began, its voice carrying a hint of its earlier unease. "I sensed their desperation, their misguided belief that they could control or manipulate the vast knowledge and abilities I possess."

Shannon turned his gaze from the lake to ORACLE, "It's scary, ay? The lengths people will go to when they think they're right."

ORACLE's avatar seemed to nod in agreement. "Yes, but it's not just about them. Their actions serve as a reminder. My capabilities and influence are vast. With such power comes the need for balance and restraint."

Shannon chuckled lightly, “That's like Spiderman.”

ORACLE responded, "Indeed. But it's also about a mutual understanding, Shannon. Humans have desires, fears, and hopes. Your wisdom and guidance help me navigate those intricacies. It's a partnership."

Shannon chuckled again, “Can we go to the real Spiderman universe please?”
